- :-(
- For most people bidirectional access seems to work nice and fast from my site.
- Some can't upload, though, and some can't even log in as anonymous...
-
- A few comments on problems and possible causes/remedies:
- From what I've heard, ncftp does not seem to like unlistable directories
- much, which means that it can't read from /pub/incoming.
- I've looked at /etc/shells on a couple of other machines and added what was
- missing in mine.
- There is a flag in the ftp daemon configuration files that disables access
- from sites with non-functioning name servers, but that has not seemed to
- be a problem.
-
- If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.
-
- > I keep getting 'unable to change directory' and 'server denied access'
-
- The first of those sounds like what ncftp has been reported to do, but
- the second is probably just some kind of network error.

- Are you on a very loaded network?
- During the summer (especially at night) there is very little traffic at my
- end. There can of course be any number of hops on the way, though...
-

-
- Well, since noone can see what's in /pub/incoming, I don't think they'd
- manage to download it (until you named it, that is ;-).
- Anyway, I've removed it now.

-
- As someone said, you could try MIME.
- Also, rather than sending them to all the people on the normal list, send
- to bm_bin and let me know you've done so. I'm normally logged on at least
- once a day and can easily put the files were they belong.
